Once the Xmas and New Year’s festivities are over you may find that you need to shed a few kilos or perhaps more.
You may even decide that 2020 is the year you are finally going to achieve the size, shape and weight you want. At that point you’ll need to think about how you’re going to achieve this potentially life changing New Year’s Resolution.
When it comes to weight management there are lots of options available to us. When selecting an option we need to remember that DIETS DO NOT WORK.

What really does deliver results?
The research into effective weight management (and there’s plenty of it!), tells us that to achieve and maintain the size, shape and weight we desire requires that we do some, or all, of these things:
- develop some new life skills,
- change our mind-set/attitude towards food
- change any limiting beliefs,
- break unhelpful habits
- clear up unhelpful ‘stuff’ from our past that might be triggering our behaviour towards food
Whoa! I hear you cry. That’s some list. How can I possibly achieve all those things?
The answer …..
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) for Weight Management
That’s right, a CBH programme is perhaps the best, and most effective, way to achieve weight loss and keep the benefits forever.
The graph below shows the combined data from six cognitive behavioural weight management programme studies, each of which compared the effect of the same programme with and without the addition of hypnosis.
The red line on the graph shows the result for the group of people who received the weight loss programme from a qualified therapist with no hypnosis included. The yellow line shows the results for the second group who received the exact same weight management programme from a qualified therapist but with hypnosis included.
The graph shows that initially weight loss was similar regardless of whether the programme included hypnosis or not. But by the end of the programme the results had already begun to differ – you can see the red and yellow lines starting to diverge. This divergence continued to increase, as you can see at the two and six month marks and then at the two year follow up date.
The yellow line clearly shows that the people who received the weight management programme with hypnosis included, achieved far superior results.
The most impressive finding from the studies was that the people on the CBH programmes kept the weight off after they’d lost it and maintained that weight loss going forward. With almost all other weight loss programmes people tend to put weight back on after their initial weight reduction (as was the case with the group who completed the programme but received no hypnosis).
It’s your choice – quick fix or long term solution?
So once you’ve made that New Year’s resolution – “2020 is definitely going to be the year I finally create the size, weight and shape I desire,” – think about whether you want a quick fix or long term solution.
If it’s a long term solution you’re after, then the science tells us that a CBH weight management programme is definitely the way to go.
