Anxiety blights the lives of increasingly large numbers of people. It may initially be focused on realistic concerns – such as financial difficulties, health, job insecurity or unemployment, relationship problems (particularly complex in blended families) and fears about the future in an increasingly uncertain world – but then spiral out of control.

Or it may have no clear cause and manifest as an ever-present feeling of being ‘wired’, tense or vulnerable, very often accompanied by out-of-control thoughts.

This highly practical workshop focuses on simple, yet highly, effective skills and strategies, drawn from a number of brain-based therapies and backed by neuro-science, that you can use to help regain control over your anxiety and reduce your stress level.

During the workshop you will have opportunities to practise the new skills and techniques and experience the benefits.

A practical workshop that will introduce you to a structured and easy-to-follow method to take yourself into hypnosis and use it to your benefit. Let go of old habits, form new ones, brighten your future, excel in your career and create excellence.

Self-hypnosis is a fantastic self-development tool. It can also be used for controlling pain, accelerated healing, letting go of limiting behaviours and a number of other applications. This workshop will provide you with a good insight into the world of hypnosis, demystify it and dispel the myths that surround it. You'll learn a structured method of taking yourself into hypnosis (informed by scientific research), some of the classic applications of self-hypnosis and evidence-based skills that will convince you without doubt of your ability to hypnotise yourself.

By the end of the workshop, you'll be able to:

• Define and discuss hypnosis

• Practice self-hypnosis

• Create and write hypnosis scripts for personal change

• Use the language of self-hypnosis

• Relax hypnotically to deep levels

I'm running a one-day workshop which explores what pressure is and how we can use it to our advantage to enhance our lives and experiences at work, home and play.

Do you ever have so much to do that you don't know where to begin, feel overburdened by others' expectations of you, or are disappointed with the progress you've made on a task? When you're under pressure, it's easy to feel like this.

We can’t avoid pressure: it’s a constant force in in our daily lives. In our fast-paced, ever-changing and demanding world, we’re continually being asked to do more with less, increasing the pressure to deliver.

In manageable doses, pressure can energise and motivate us to perform and achieve. Too much of it, however, can tip the balance the other way. The key is making pressure work for us and not against us and in this workshop, you’ll learn some simple and effective strategies that will help you avoid excessive pressure, stay in control and be more productive, healthier and distress-free.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to:

  • Recognise the warning signs that you’re under too much pressure
  • Choose from a toolkit of tools and techniques designed to help you thrive and survive under pressure
  • Apply the tools and techniques in your daily life

This highly practical workshop has been developed for counsellors, life coaches, business / success coaches, health-care and social service professionals who work with, or treat, people who may be suffering with anxiety.

The workshop focuses on techniques and strategies, drawn from a number of brain-based therapies and backed by neuro-science that you can use to help your clients to regain control over their anxiety and stress levels.  During the workshop you will have opportunities to practise the new skills and techniques yourself. The day offers the chance to gain life skills that can benefit anyone who experiences anxiety or stress, including us, as professionals!

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  • Discuss anxiety and stress in ways that are easy for your clients to understand
  • Support your client in taking agency for change and seeing a range of possible avenues for change
  • Empower your clients and equip them with a range of effective, easy to use tools and techniques to rewire their anxious brains
The Workshop Facilitators

Angela Baker is a counselling psychologist and well-being coach.  Tony Yuile is a performance and well-being coach and clinical hypnotherapist.  Angela and Tony’s particular area of expertise is in helping people to perform under pressure, overcome anxiety and manage stress. Both Angela and Tony are trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming and have experience in applying other brain-based therapies.

May 2017: I had the pleasure of presenting to the Wellington Leadership Meetup Group. The title of my presentation was How leaders/managers can identify and help staff who are experiencing stress.

March 2017: I presented to the Widowed, Divorced, Separated Support Group on the topic of how hypnotherapy and NLP can help overcome emotional distress.

October 2016: I was one of 14 expert coaches from around the world selected to present at the NLP Mindfest.

Those three letters—NLP—stand for Neuro Linguistic Programming, which is a powerful and elegantly simple way to get your mind to do what you want! It has been called the Science of Achievement.

During my presentation I shared some of my favourite techniques for helping people overcome anxiety.
