Right now, we face a unique set of circumstances. Routines have been disrupted; the rhythm of daily life has been turned on its head. We’ve been told to expect a ‘new normal’ Post COVID-19, but what will the new ‘normal’ be like for you?
Have you taken time yet to reflect on how you used to live pre lockdown and how you want your life to be in the post COVID-19 world? What needs to change for you to be happier, healthier and more satisfied?
What is true for you today doesn’t necessarily have to be true for you tomorrow. Your choices (and, yes, your circumstances) today affect your reality tomorrow. So if you haven’t already perhaps now’s a good time for you to do some reflection and plan some changes.
As a coach, I’m often sought out by people to help them take stock of their lives and create a vision, and develop a plan, for how they want to live and be in the future. Putting the results of their thinking and planning into action is life changing for people.
Earlier this week I read an article on this topic by expert psychologist, Dr. Joan Rosenberg. Dr Rosenberg provided the following questions to help us consider how we want our new normal to be:
1. If you weren’t truly living the life you loved, what would it look like if you could?
2. What would your health look like?
3. What would your relationships look like – romantic, family, or otherwise?
4. What would you be doing with your time?
If you haven’t done so already, I encourage you to put aside some time, over the next few days, to sit down and consider and answer these questions as best you can. Think about what’s missing in your life, what’s not right and what you need more of. Are there any habits (of thinking or behaviour) that aren’t serving you and need to change, to enable you to enjoy the future you deserve?
Investing time in answering these questions will help you identify how you want to BE, what you want to DO and what you want to HAVE going forward. They’ll help you begin to identify how you need to change to create this future you desire and deserve.
Answering these sorts of questions can be challenging, and if you need some help answering them, or exploring what needs to change so you can live the life you want in the future, I can help.
